We have had an eventful summer and autumn with projects on the land as well as Ally spending countless hours applying for funding for different projects. We’ve had a few successes with various grants that both allow our business to develop while also improving access and helping involve the local community more at Beechbrae Wood.
We have been successful in our 3rd CSGN Orchard Grant this autumn which will provide Beechbrae Orchard with 30 more apple trees! This is the last year that this grant is available and we are thrilled to be able to add more trees to our orchard, as well a few edible pollinator attractors to help develop our forest garden. We will be planting these trees with the help of the P5 & P6 classes from Blackridge Primary School early December- we’ll report back once we’ve planted them!
Looking back over the past few years- this was the first grant we ever applied for and I can still remember the thrill of first hearing that we’d been successful. The Forth Environment Link have been incredibly supportive of us over our orchard journey and have given us support & encouragement to go for it- which is amazing.
The Forth Valley Orchard Initiative is funded by the Central Scotland Green Network Development Fund. The Central Scotland Green Network Orchard Grant Scheme 2014/2015, which is part of the initiative, covers the whole of the CSGN area.
